Simon is such a sweetheart. I used to be obsessed with that big and pretty hat. So when Jacquemus called me to join his campaign, I said, “Is that the guy in the hat?” And I said, yeah, that’s right, and I was like, Oh, my God. I did not expect his clothes to be so gorgeous, all cream white, everything is dreamy. It was unbelievable, and I thought it was funny that he wanted to pay homage to the crazy hats I used to wear.

Do you feel that way? I’m not a pioneer, but sometimes it’s funny when I see these Halloween costumes or people using me on mood boards when taking pictures and everything, I’m like, Oh, my gosh. Tommy did my makeup, and I was out the door. This is just pure fun. And so Simon said, “Oh my gosh. I will cry. I can’t believe you put all of that together yourself. It is very inspirational to me.” I was like, “Are you serious?” [Laugh.]
In regards to the constant emphasis on your body in interviews and for the short stories, you talked about how it is necessary to have boundaries when asking women about their bodies. Can you expand on this? I always feel in an interview, when someone asks you something, you have to answer. I do not understand. At that time I had no press. I have no one to guide or help me. You don’t even realize when you’re talking to someone that that interview is going to be read all over the world. You just think you’re talking across the table with someone or you’re on the phone with someone. All these things I learned in real time. Having something to yourself is your own personal business. And unfortunately, in my case, things got a bit out of control.
